Design and install of a fully bespoke Access Control solution
OLS were tasked with the design and install of a fully bespoke Access Control solution with Temperature Detection Terminals at a leading UK Steel Manufacturer. The solution needed to work across multiple sites and be fit for purpose for more than 1200 users.
The Solution
acre’s ACT365 Cloud Access Control System that could fully integrate with their current in-house T&A (UKG Ready) using the ‘OLS Connect’ platform which is a tailored software solution developed by our in-house software development team.
The solution that we provided was acre’s ACT365 Cloud Access Control System that could fully integrate with their current in-house T&A (UKG Ready) using the ‘OLS Connect’ platform which is a tailored software solution developed by our in-house software development team. This ensured that a single source of data entry (one card/badge) could be used across the site for total ease of use. The integration between UKG Ready and ACT365 allows administrators of the site to add/remove employees from the T&A software which automatically removes them from ACT365, essentially saving time.
The system also integrates with the site contractor management system. With custom triggers in place to disable access to the site if a strict set of criteria are not met, this includes site inductions and insurance or certification laps. This ensures that anyone who is onsite has the correct training, certificates or inductions and is not a hazard to anyone on the site.
Temperature detection units with facial recognition were installed with a tailored application to monitor entry to the buildings in accordance with user temperatures. The ID card (employee number) is scanned, and access is granted or prevented automatically. A purpose-build card printing facility to allow the customer to print their own ID cards and link this to the ACT365 system – this was bespoke built by OLS.
The Results
ACT365 can be used for Fire Mustering, this was very important to the customer as being able to access the muster register through the app on their phone is much easier than registering over 1200 employees on a piece of paper. The employees scan their ID Cards at specified muster points, and this automatically marks them safe and out of the building. This saves a lot of time during fire drills.
With the ACT365 system, you can have multiple sites with different access rights set up for users in the form of door groups and cardholder groups. This way, you can have someone mainly based at one site, but their access will be valid on other sites if required. You can also limit users access to prohibited areas.
