Monitor, simplify, and improve manufacturing access control with a single integrated cloud-based access control system.

Due to their size and multi-area operations, manufacturing sites face unique access control challenges, with managers being responsible for both site security and personnel activities. To effectively monitor and manage business practices, you need to have a comprehensive access control system which allows for full surveillance of employee and visitor activities to not only facilitate the efficient running of your manufacturing processes but also ensure the safety and protection of those on your premises.

With a modern cloud-based manufacturing access control system, your business can simplify employee and visitor movements across your entire premises from a single comprehensive dashboard that can be accessed from anywhere. This system helps to minimise risks of unauthorised entry to areas of your premises, protecting your processes, employees and assets from infiltration whilst remaining scalable for future premise or production expansion.

Door Entry Systems

For manufacturing businesses which require 24/7 access or are utilised by a large number of people, door entry systems provide a first line of action for access control to your premises. When presented with a key card or fob, access is granted or denied based on the registered individual’s access level.

Modern entry systems which utilise more sophisticated entry methods, such as biometric or mobile credentials, provide additional levels of security, allowing different levels of access based on individual roles and responsibilities. Additionally, access can be given on a timed basis, meaning employees and visitors will only be able to gain access to your premises during their shift or for a set period.

Biometric Access Control

Offering robust and reliable means of securing your premises, biometric access control streamlines the entry process, mitigating the need for physical entry items such as keys or fobs, which are at risk of loss or theft.

Utilising an individual’s unique features such as their fingerprint or facial characteristics, biometric access control requires no password or keycode to be remembered by the user. Biometric access control is a scalable, adaptable solution that can be used either as a standalone biometric reader or in combination with other security systems.

Visitor Management Access Control

Allowing for access to be scheduled based on employee shifts, or visitor appearances, a visitor management access control system allows you to fully monitor and manage those on your premises.

With the ability to record the type of visitor, who they are, and the time/duration of their visit, you can manage your personnel quickly and efficiently, mitigating the need for physical guest books, badges, and documents by automatically sending arrival details to relevant individuals prior to their visit. Using a visitor management access control system allows your teams to pre-plan visits to ensure safety compliance and proper visitor record keeping.

Gates, Barriers & Turnstiles

Physical gates, barriers and turnstiles not only create a secure and intrinsically safe environment but are also a reliable solution to prevent unauthorised entry to your premises, whether placed inside or outside your building. Tripod turnstiles, full-height turnstiles, and speed gates or interlocking doors can all incorporate access cards or key fob readers, refusing entry to unauthorised personnel. Turnstiles with attendance tracking systems can record entry and exit times, helping to monitor patterns and evaluate your building’s usage.

CCTV & Thermal Perimeter Protection

Highly visible, advanced CCTV systems are a deterrent to even the most persistent criminals. Industrial CCTV can be wireless, detect body temperature via infra-red technology, and be installed as fixed or hard-wired solutions at critical points around your premises to maintain 24/7 surveillance.

Thermal Perimeter Protection systems offer a solution when security lighting is too low to provide a viable option for intruder detection, instead, intruders can be detected via their body heat. Having this extra layer of protection for your site will not only provide a strong deterrent to potential threats, but it can also seamlessly integrate with alarm monitoring and police response, meaning when triggered, immediate alerts are generated, ensuring a rapid response and minimising potential damage or loss.

ANPR/ LPR

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), or Licence Plate Recognition (LPR), are automated forms of access control that allows pre-authorised vehicles to gain quick entry through a gate, barrier, or shutter. Once the system is installed, an outward facing camera will scan approaching vehicle licence plates to determine whether to allow or deny entry. All authorised vehicles can be pre-entered into the system for quick and easy deliveries, and employee and visitor management. An intercom can also be installed to allow for guests or other vehicles to manually call security and gain access when required.

How cloud access control benefits manufacturing businesses

Due to the varied attendance patterns of employees across a manufacturing business’s premises, effective access control management is important to tracking employee and visitor movement and safety. Cloud access control allows for a higher level of security and efficiency where monitoring personnel’s whereabouts is imperative.

A cloud-based access control system allows your team to monitor and adjust employee access based on their shifts, simplifying payroll and HR processes by automatically tracking and reporting working hours. This degree of control is crucial in manufacturing environments, where restricting access to specific areas—such as machinery, production zones, and storage—helps prevent unauthorized or untrained personnel from entering hazardous sites.

Fully customisable to your business’s unique requirements, OLS Connect, our custom-built cloud-based integration platform, works with any existing management systems you may have to minimise system downtime during implementation and reduce the need to transfer data to a new system. OLS Connect allows for simplified time-tracking, fire evacuation procedures, and roll-call applications, helping your facility to operate smoothly.

The advantages of Manufacturing Access Control Systems

Integrates seamlessly with existing third-party management solutions, allowing you to manage everything from one integrated platform.
Fully customisable to your premise's requirements, working with both API and flat file integrations hosted in the cloud.
Reduces staffing and operational costs. With only one system to update and automated access into your facilities, less administration and maintenance is required.
Flexible and scalable software can be seamlessly integrated for one site or across multiple sites.
Customer service will be improved with streamlined processes. Staff can spend more time doing other jobs, rather than policing who is entering and leaving the facility.
Real-time data and insights about visitor usage will allow you to forward plan for peak and off-peak times.

The advantages of Manufacturing Access Control Systems

Manufacturing access control systems have many benefits, the main being the increased security they offer your premises. Other benefits include increased ease of access, the ability to track and monitor visitors and employees who enter and leave your premises, and the prevention of unauthorised personnel from entering certain areas.

Access control systems give you complete control over who enters your manufacturing premises and the various areas within your building. A preconfigured door lock system is attached to your door that only allows entry when someone enters or scans the predetermined credentials (code, tag, ID card, biometric profile). They can also provide detailed reports on how employees and visitors move about your building at the touch of a button.

Simple and easy to manage with training provided, our manufacturing access management systems provide ongoing cost savings on administration time, due to its automated processes and single interface. Visitors and contractors will no longer need to wait at reception for a physical printed pass or to sign policy documents and records.

Additionally, product contamination hazards can be costly and can halt production or even cause loss of stock and product. Proper access control can mitigate the damage of a contamination event and help your processes to get up and running again as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Yes, cloud-based access control allows you to easily scale your business each time you expand to a new location, or your facilities and staff numbers increase. These systems can support you with potentially global growth, processing large numbers of users without having to install server boxes in every building like you would with traditional access control.

No, we provide a survey to determine what needs upgrading and oftentimes, we can integrate our solutions with your current systems. Bespoke integrations can be built with your existing systems via an API or flat file integration. By integrating your solution with the existing workflows and applications your business already uses, you can permit automatic processes and delegate tasks across the whole organisation with ease.
